Research Development in Palestinian UniversitiesUNESCO, Paris, 4-5 November 2007 An International Conference on “Research Development in Palestinian Universities” has been held at UNESCO in Paris, on 4 – 5 November 2007 together with the 7th Session of the General Assembly of PEACE. Developing research capabilities at Palestinian universities is a priority, both for raising the overall quality of their programmes and for enhancing their contribution to the sustainable development of the country. It is therefore in keeping with the statutory role of PEACE - which is to promote academic cooperation with and for benefit of the Palestinian universities - and in view of the fact that several important academic projects have been launched recently by PEACE, that it has been decided to devote the International Conference to research. The one day and a half conference included contributions by leading academics from European and Palestinian Universities. The conference was also addressed by Mrs Lami Alawi of the Palestinian National Authority, Mr. Marcio Barbosa, the Deputy Director-General of UNESCO and by Mrs. Luisa Morgantini, Vice President of the European Parliament. ![]() Agenda
